Our Terms Of Service

Last update: 27/2/24

Please read our Terms Of Service  if you would like to know the finer details of our service provision.

1| Our staff:

All our Psychologists are highly experienced, fully qualified and registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA).

2| Our Fees:

Doctor (GP) referrals:

  • If your doctor refers you to a psychologist using a Mental Health Care Plan (MBS item 2715), you are eligible to receive Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per year.

  • This amount is rebated to you on the day of the consultation, reducing the out-of-pocket (gap) fee payable.

  • If you would like a Medicare rebate please visit your GP to enquire about a Mental Health Care Plan before seeing the psychologist.

Private health insurance funds:

  • Most private health insurers will cover at least part of your consultation fee. Please contact your private health insurer to see what they can cover.

NDIS:

  • If you are registered for NDIS funding and plan, self or agency managed, your fee is completely covered. All you have to do is check your funding (for Capacity Building) or seek a review of funding and then call us to make an appointment when you're ready.

  • We also provide Positive Behaviour Support.

Booking and Fees:

  • A deposit of $95 is required for online booking.

  • Credit/debit card details are required upon booking.

  • Private fee: $235 for the initial appointment and $220 per hour thereafter.

    • Medicare or private health insurance rebates are available.

    • Medicare rebate: $96.65 per session with a general psychologist and $141.85 per session with a clinical psychologist (to cover higher fees).

      • 80% of the out of pocket (gap) fee is rebated when you pass the Medicare Safety Net Threshold. The threshold is passed when you have spent more than $770.30 on (all) health care in a year for concession card holders and $2414.00 for non-concession card patients.

  • NDIS Clients: $244 per hour. Your sessions are fully reimbursed if you have the available funding (please check with NDIS or your plan manager or register for the 'My NDIS' App where you can see your funding categories and the budget limit for each category. The funding category for psychology is called 'Capacity Building'.

  • Legal / Motor Vehicle / Workers Comp: $267 per hour: fully reimbursed by your insurer if eligible (please check with your insurer/ lawyer).

3| Our Cancellation Fee:

  • Please give 48 hrs notice of cancellation (2 business days) or the full fee is charged.

  • Please call the clinic on (08) 6555 6588 if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

  • All efforts will be made to accommodate the best appointment time for your needs subject to availability.

4| Our Appointment Reminders:

A text message will automatically be sent to your elected mobile phone number to remind you of your upcoming appointment as a courtesy, 3-days and then 1-day before your appointment time.

5| Our Confidentiality:

  • Matters discussed in psychology/ therapy consultation are confidential. Official notes are taken for each consult and kept on a secure and encrypted server as per national privacy and encryption requirements.

  • Note: Although this is a very rare occurrence, the law states that any medical notes can be subpoenaed by a Judge, e.g. if relevant to a court case. Bruce Psychology Services will always aim to protect your data and clinical notes and maintain confidentiality wherever possible. Clinical notes do not record any personal statement that is made in therapy (dialogue); rather we record clinical indicators only, such as observational, psychometric and diagnostic data as per AHPRA guidelines for comprehensive note recording (the clinician’s interpretation only). You are also privy to these notes if you request them; in certain circumstances, a summary will be provided. In Western Australian psychologists are now required under mandatory report to inform the Department for Child Protection if there is any significant disclosure of abuse; this also applies to teachers, social workers, police officers, and physicians.
